9th Grade, U.S. History 1865-Present + American Government
FEBRUARY 9th - 13th:
Monday & Tuesday we will be reviewing for Wednesday's midterm exam over our brief coverage of the Antebellum period and Civil War. This will cover the major governmental and political points and circumstances which lead to the Civil War, as well as the social and economic impacts of the war itself.
We have discussed at great length how US policies toward slavery, trade, and westward expansion (beginning with the 3/5 Compromise at the Constitutional Convention in 1787, through the Kansas/Nebraska Act of 1854 and Lincoln's election in 1860) directly caused the Civil War, and set the stage for our nation's future challenges culturally and economically.
